Mission Summary
Charitable non-profit organizations require professional consulting support as much as (if not more than) commercial organizations. Only a small percentage of charitable non-profit organizations can afford such assistance. The rest simply must do without.
VolunteerConsultants envisions a future in which every deserving charitable non-profit organization is in its own mission of helping others supported by professional consultants at no charge.
VolunteerConsultants contribute to realization of this vision through creating a permanent and self-sustaining pool of no-cost consulting support for charitable non-profit organizations and establishing a pro-bono standard of service for the consulting profession similar to that found in the legal profession. This mission will be accomplished only when every request for consulting assistance by charitable non-profit organizations is met with a timely and positive response.
Under no circumstances will VolunteerConsultants support organizations advocating any form of hatred, violence or discrimination.
Our Goals
In support of this mission, VolunteerConsultants has been established to:
facilitate delivery of professional consulting support to registered charitable non-profit organizations with access to professional consulting services at no cost;
create opportunities for volunteer consultants to gain valuable experience and serve the communities in which they work professionally;
communicate the business case for supporting charitable non-profit organizations to the consulting profession and the business community at large; and,
in the absence of a governing body for the consulting profession, establish a common pro-bono standard for consulting among both independent and firm consultants.
Our Value Proposition to the Charitable Non-Profit Community
Charitable non-profit organizations can benefit from professional consulting services, but often cannot afford them. Most charitable non-profit organizations often do not know how to define their need or solicit assistance from the consulting community.
VolunteerConsultants will facilitate:
definition of needs and opportunities that can be facilitated by professional consulting services;
solicitation of volunteer consulting services from a group of willing volunteers;
rapid and quality delivery of volunteered consulting services; and,
access to a library of leading practices and ideas to improve operations.
Our Value Proposition to the Consulting Community
Many consultants would be willing to volunteer their time to charitable non-profit organizations if:
they understand and support the mission of the charitable non-profit organization;
the scope of assistance to be provided is short-term and well-defined;
volunteer activities can fit easily into their schedules; and,
someone else can handle the logistics of volunteering.
By taking advantage of volunteer consulting opportunities, volunteer consultants will have the opportunity to:
lead and/or participate in engagements to which they might not otherwise have access;
learn new consulting skills and practice existing ones;
gain access to a library of best practices and consulting tools;
obtain written references from satisfied clients.
VolunteerConsultants will encourage volunteerism in the consulting community through:
providing exciting opportunities for consultants to gain valuable experience;
creating a convenient and efficient process for potential volunteers to identify and pursue volunteer consulting engagements;
defining short-term, fixed-scope, high-impact consulting projects;
providing tools and support to facilitate engagement completion;
facilitating scheduling and logistics associated with volunteer consulting engagements; and,
providing a mechanism to provide timely feedback to volunteer consultants.
